The Religious Affairs Ministry on Monday inaugurated the Hajj Computer Center for facilitating Hajj pilgrims, as 179,210 Pakistanis would be performing Hajj this year, of which 50 percent would be from the government scheme and the rest under the private scheme.

Applications are received and managed by the Hajj Computer Center, equipped with modern technology and professional human resources.

A Religious Ministry official said that adding applicants are kept informed about their application’s status through letters and regular website updates. After the verification of passports and photographs, the center places this information on the Saudi Arabia Foreign Ministry’s website for generating E-numbers.

The center pastes E-number stickers onto passports and verifies according to the lists.

The official said that 3,000 to 5,000 passports are sent to the Saudi Embassy for Hajj visas every year. These passports are returned the next day and then sent to the Hajis via their respective Haji camps.

The Hajj Computer Center also ensures travel and living arrangements, and

applicants are informed in this regard through letters and the ministry’s website, he added.
