The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed the review petition filed by Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt regarding his conviction in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case. The actor had filed a petition in the apex court for the review of the SC verdict that upheld Dutt’s conviction for possession of illegal arms and had sentenced him for a five-year imprisonment. Rejecting the merit in Sanjay Dutt’s plea for a review, the bench of P Sathasivam and B S Chauhan observed that there is no case for the review of its March 21 verdict. The court also dismissed the review petition by six other convicts. This means that Sanjay Dutt will now have to surrender on May 15. He was given a four-week time to surrender after the March 21 verdict, but four-more weeks were given in April following Dutt’s plea for extra time to complete his pending Bollywood projects. The 53-year-old actor has been busy in the last weeks wrapping up his films, Zanjeer, Policegiri and Peekay.
