On the advice of the prime minister, President Asif Zardari on Saturday approved the Representation of the People (Amendment) Ordinance 2013.
Spokesman to President Zardari, Farhatullah Babar said the ordinance which amended the representation of the People Act 1976 by inserting a new Section 86 B, provides for punishment for violation of code of conduct.
The ordinance provides that any person who violated any of the provisions of the code of conduct already issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan shall be punishable with fine which may extend to Rs 100,000.
