Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani, Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Chaudhry and Chief Election Commissioner Fakhruddin G Ebrahim on Saturday cast their votes.
Gen Kayani was the first person to enter the polling station set up at Government Girls High School Gulistan Colony at 8am and cast his vote. His vote is registered in NA-54 and PP-10.
Separately, the CJP cast his vote in Quetta.
The CJP along with his Dr Arsalan, Balochistan High Court Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, Chief Secretary Babar Yaqoob Fateh Mohammad, CCPO Mir Zubair Mehmood, reached polling station set up in Pakistan Railways Account Academy Zarghoon Road. The polling station falls in NA-259 and PB-1.
Talking to media, the CJP recalled that judiciary was committed to upholding the constitution and law, adding that the conduct of polls was evident that there was rule of law in the country.
Meanwhile, the CEC cast his vote at the Hampton School Clifton Block I.
Talking to media, he appealed to the people to exercise their right of franchise. Fakhruddin pointed out that a transparent system has been devised for the polling and that no one would be able to get any opportunity for resorting to rigging.
He further pointed out that the future of the nation lied in democracy and in this regard today was the most important day.
