The Ministry of Water and Power has announced to continue uninterrupted supply of electricity for 36 hours during election days.
Federal Minister for Water and Power Musadiq Malik told reporters on Thursday that the ministry had devised a plan for continuous power supply during election days. He said during the last 30 days, 2,700 megawatts had been added to the national grid but unfortunately its impact could not be transferred to the masses.
He said that production has been increased in the country however sufficient relief has not been provided to the masses and the ministry is investigating the reasons behind it.
Briefing about the election strategy, the minister said that Pakistan State Oil will enhance its stocks to provide oil to GENCOs and 2 Independent Power Producers while the Finance Ministry had assured provision of one month credit to PSO for continuous oil supply to four private generating plants. He added that the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources had provided 150mmcfd gas for power generation and after its utilization 800 megawatt will be produced for election days.
