Intelligence agencies busy, cannot produce Adiala missing prisoners, SC told

Attorney General (AG) Irfan Qadir has told Supreme Court (SC) that all intelligence agencies were engaged in duties to ensure holding of election in a peaceful manner, therefore, Adiala Jail prisoners could not be produced.

A three-member bench of Supreme Court (SC) presided over by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry took up the Adiala prisoners case for hearing on Friday.

AGP and Tariq advocate, counsel for prisoners, appeared in court.

The AG told the court that seven Adiala missing prisoners could not be produced as all intelligence agencies and law enforcement agencies were engaged in performing their professional duties to ensure conduct of peaceful elections. “Therefore, more time be allowed,” he prayed.

The court allowed time to the intelligence agencies to produce the missing prisoners by May 14.

The hearing of the case was put off until May 14.
