The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has directed the Ministry of Industries Secretary to appoint Senior Operation General Manager Sultan Mahmood as Utility Stores Corporation acting managing director (MD).

Justice Shoukat Aziz Siddiqui resumed the hearing of Sultan Mahmood’s plea, seeking the directive to appoint him to the aforementioned post.

The petitioner’s counsel said that the court had declared Major General (retd) Farooq’s appointment illegal and ordered the ministry to name their senior most officer as acting MD.

He argued that his client was the corporation’s senior most officer but the ministry chose Bashir Babar as acting MD, who was third on the seniority list.

The bench ordered the ministry to appoint Sultan Mahmood as acting MD of the corporation on seniority’s basis.

In an earlier hearing, the court upheld the federal government’s decision regarding Managing Director Utility Store Corporation Major General (retd) Farooq’s termination.
