Two more killed, several hurt on last day of campaigning

 

 

 

At least two people were killed and several others injured on Thursday in violence related to elections across the country.

A man was killed and six injured in an attack on the convoy of PML-N candidate for PB-50, Akbar Askani, in Mand area of Balochistan.

Officals said the convoy of PML-N leader Askani was passing through Mand area of Turbat when unidentified men opened fire.

As a result, a security guard was killed on the spot, while six others sustained injuries.

Akbar remained unhurt in the attack.

In North Waziristan Agency, one person was killed and five injured in a blast in Mir Ali area of the agency.

Officials said the blast occurred at Moski area near an election rally that was passing through the main bazaar of the area.

Security forces rushed to the scene soon after the blast occurred and shifted the injured to hospital.

Scores have died in the militant campaign to derail the May 11 vote, making them being called the bloodiest in Pakistan’s history.

In Bannu also, a bomb blast at the doorstep of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader’s house resulted in no casualties.

Police said miscreants had planted explosives outside the door of JUI-F leader Shaukatur Rehman house’s in Soorani area that exploded early on Thursday. However, Rehman and his family remained safe in the incident.
