IHC warns of contempt proceedings against officials in missing person case

Hearing a missing person’s case, a single-member bench of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday observed that the court may initiate contempt proceedings against the responsible officials if the person was not produced on May 15.
Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui observed this while hearing the case of a missing person filed by Rashida Amir for recovery of her husband Amir Ahmed.
The court has ordered a number of times for recovery of the missing person but he did not produce so far, the judge remarked.
Wajeehullah, counsel for the petitioner, apprised the bench that Amir had been missing for three years.
He requested the court to order the authorities concerned to recover Amir as soon as possible.
Deputy Attorney General Tarqi Mahmood appeared and sought time for producing the missing person Amir Ahmed till next date of hearing. The court accepted the request and adjourned the matter till May 15.
In earlier hearing on Wednesday, the court had directed the Additional Advocate General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to produce the missing person on Thursday.
KP Additional Advocate General Akhter Naveed apprised the bench that the KP government has arrested Amir Ahmed and kept him in interment centre.

  1. After all these years this case has been going on and more and more go missing and ending up dead, you je.u.n.u.c.h. judges are still just issuing EMPTY "warnings"? Judjo, doob kay mar jao!!!
