Winona Ryder has revealed that she was once told to give up on acting because she wasn’t attractive enough. The 41-year-old told Interview magazine that in the middle of auditioning and mid-sentence, the casting director said, ‘Listen kid, you shouldn’t be an actress,’ the Daily Express reported. The director, according to the ‘Black Swan’ star, said that she was not pretty enough and told her to go back to wherever she came from, and go to school. “I honestly think she thought she was doing me a favour,” Ryder insisted. The actress admitted that if it were not for landing roles in 1988 films, Beetlejuice and Heathers, she would have given it up. She added that she had an unusual look and wasn’t really considered a beauty.
