Govt making utmost efforts to provide security to candidates‚ voters: Nizami

 

Information Minister Arif Nizami has said Pakistan came into being through the power of vote and exercising the right to vote by every citizen was a must to take the country forward on the path of progress and prosperity.

Talking to reporters Islamabad on Thursday‚ the information minister called upon the masses to come out on the polling day to play their role for the development of the nation.

He said the government had made all arrangements for holding the general elections in a fair‚ free and transparent way.

The information minister said that government was making utmost efforts to provide security to candidates and the voters and all available resources are being utilised in this regard.

He said there was complete coordination and harmony among the federal and the provincial governments and the law enforcing agencies.

The information minister said the pledge of the caretaker government to hold free and fair election was reaching its logical end and expressed the hope that the election process would be completed smoothly.

Nizami said some forces were trying to sabotage the election process by implementing their own agenda, but with the coordinated efforts, their nefarious designs would be foiled.

He called upon the masses to play their role to defeat the negative forces, saying it was a fight between right and wrong and by coming out on the Election Day, masses could defeat the erroneous forces.

To a question‚ the minister said that it was a good omen that nationalist parties were taking part in election in Balochistan. He said their participation in the elections would yield positive results.

To a question regarding the kidnapping of PPP candidate Ali Haider Gilani‚ the information minister said the government was fully conscious of the issue and the provincial government was investigating into the incident.

To a question‚ Nizami said security arrangements had been made for international journalists and observers and government was fully facilitating journalists covering the election activities.
