Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday has issued contempt of court notices to care taker Prime Minister (PM), secretary establishment division and principal secretary in transfer of grade-20 officers’ case and sought reply from them within 7 days.
A 3-member bench of SC headed by Justice Jawwad S. Khawaja heard the case.
The petitioner Shafqat Naghmi presented the list of 20 officers in the court who were transferred during the month of March.
The court in its suo motto notice had directed federal government and secretary establishment division to apprise it as to why the transfer orders were issued despite court orders. Making transfers in this way is a breach of law and the constitution. The details provided to the court reflect that court’s orders have been violated as caretaker government was not authorized to make these transfers.
The hearing of the case was adjourned for one week.
