Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi said the possibility of his party joining any coalition government following the May 11 polls could not be ruled out.
“PTI joining any coalition government after May 11 cannot be ruled out. Avenues are never closed in politics,” he said while talking to BBC on Thursday.
He said a crucial PTI meeting would be held the day after polls to decide a future strategy in perspective of electoral pledges made by his party with the people.
Responding to a question on talks with Taliban, he said PTI was the first and only party, asking for negotiations with Taliban for the sake of establishment of peace in Afghanistan.
Talking on democracy, Qureshi said Taliban, who do not accept the political system as Islamic, have their own view point and PTI has its own. “No bar has been imposed by Islam on democracy in my view,” he added.
Responding to a question on Imran Khan’s stance on shooting down drones, Qureshi said not only PTI, but several other circles and human rights’ organisations in the Unites States (US) and Britain were opposed to drone attacks.
Replying to a question on army chief Gen Kayani’s statement on terrorism, he said the entire world was talking of reconciliation and accommodation. “PTI does not support terrorism and it will not allow anyone to opt for terrorism in this country,” Qureshi said. PTI will also not allow anyone to use Pakistan’s soil for launching strikes against any other country, he added.
Old habits die hard.Mr. Qureshi must say things he need not at this point of time.Such people spoil the efforts of the diehards.I think he misses the perks of a minister. Please shutup.
