Two policemen and a woman were killed during exchange of fire between militants and law enforcers in Rasheed Garhi area of Peshawar on Wednesday.
According to police, the operation was in progress amid strong resistance by militants who had taken refuge in a house, making the inmates their hostages. They said further details could not be revealed at the moment.
Acting on a tip off, police conducted a search operation in Rasheed Garhi.
During the search, outlaws and law enforcers came across each other starting a skirmish.
Police said an explosion also took place at the house where the militants were hiding, injuring some of the inmates.
