PML-N’s tiger is dead

A white tiger used by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) to demonstrate the party’s might in its election campaign died during a rally on Wednesday.

The tiger was spotted in rallies led by Maryam Nawaz, daughter of Nawaz Sharif, in Lahore.

According to details, the rare tiger was brought unconscious to the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Tuesday evening. The vets there tried to revive the animal but to no avail.

The World Wide Fund (WWF) termed the use of white tiger in election campaign as violation of international laws. According to a report, white tigers are endangered animals and are extremely sensitive to heat and noise.

With temperatures in Lahore soaring past 30 degrees Celsius and there being nothing but noise at the political rallies, the tiger could not survive.

WWF also confirmed that famed actor and conservationist Faryal Gohar would file a petition with the Lahore High Court against the illegal use of wildlife animals at rallies.

    • He's not insane for say they should be prosecuted, this is a clear case of animal cruelty and white tigers are a rare and endangered species found in areas with low tempreture, just putting the animal in Pakistan's climate caused it discomfort and with the loud noise created by the people it caused the animal stress and most likely a stroke. Individuals who think that the usage of an animal for stupid events such as political rallies should be prosecuted, the animal was not properly cared for and now it's dead who's to blame? the ones who brought the animal to it, the WWF and government should recognize this breach of international laws and the loss of a rare and endangered species and prosecute the individuals involved in it's death.

      well, if they really had been taking care of this poor creature then they should have known about his critical condition and had prevented him from dying. IF THEY REALLY CARED.     • It's merely a fate. I am a vet, doing PhD in the above mentioned university where the Tiger was brought, and I was present there. Not being partisan, they really cared for this endangered species, they have been spending lots of money on their breeding. People went outrageous a few years ago when it was carried to UK for health check up that PML-N is wasting money on a tiger. And now, they are again!
      If someone is not satisfied please google " Shifa Ul haq" and find me for the discussion.

    Had there been anything else than noise, for instance the smallest amount of truth, the poor animal would have survived. Even the poor animal could not stand their lies anymore and succumbed to them.
