Caretaker Prime Minister Justice (r) Hazar Khan Khoso on Wednesday directed the Immigration and Passports directorate general (DG) to provide passports to people promptly by making efforts to clear pending applications.
Khoso issued these directions while reviewing the present position of pendency of passports during a presentation made by the Interior Ministry at the PM’s House.
The acting PM was briefed that pending applications which stood at 800,000 in the first week of April have been reduced to 500,000.
Khoso was told that the pendency had accumulated due to lack of availability of lamination paper, rampant corruption and collusion of agent mafia with officials of the Immigration and Passports DG.
It was told that the DG had succeeded in procurement of lamination sheets which was likely to accelerate the process of issuance of passports to applicants.
The caretaker PM was told that apart from taking action against officials involved in corruption, guidelines have been displayed for the public, besides surprised visits to improve efficiency.
The DG informed Khoso that the department was working even on weekends to comply with his instructions to clear the pendency and bring it to zero.
“Only last Saturday and Sunday, 42,000 passports were printed,” the DG said.
Khoso was told that all arrangements have been made to ensure issuance of passports to intending hajjis so that they can perform their religious duty.
He was informed that a toll-free helpline is now functioning which could be contacted to know about the progress of applications.
The meeting was convened to review the progress made on Khoso’s instructions issued during an earlier meeting held in first week of April on clearing of pendency of applications of passports.
The meeting was attended by Interior Minister Malik Habib Khan, senior official of the PM’s Secretariat and the Immigration and Passports DG.

  1. Although a free help line has been introduced, no one attends the call and no matter how long you try you'll get the massage that the line is busy. And if you are lucky enough to get a ring tone while making call to 0800-34477 some body just pick it up and then hangs on you.
So in a nut shell, this help line is nothing but a fake claim.

Even the email ID : [email protected]

is unable to receive the mails, as the email quota has exceeded.

So pakistani citizens are at the mercy of DGIP for getting their basic right, I don't know, where the hell govt. is???????????????
