SHO issued notice for failing to register Lal Masjid FIR against Musharraf

Islamabad High Court on Tuesday issued a notice to SHO Aabpara on a petition seeking registration of FIR against former president Musharraf in Lal Masjid case.

A single-member bench, comprising Justice Noor Ul Haq Qureshi, heard a petition filed by Haroon Urrashid, the son of Lal Masjid cleric Abdul Rashid Ghazi who was killed in army action.

Abdul Rashid Ghazi’s mother was also killed in the operation.

Counsel for applicant, Tariq Asad said that the Lal Masjid probe commission had revealed that the army operation was ordered by Musharraf and held him responsible for the tragedy.

He told the court that SHO Aabpara was approached for filing of the FIR but he had not so far registered the case.

The Islamabad High Court formally admitted the petition for hearing and issued a notice to SHO Aabpara seeking a report within seven days.
