The designation of May 12 as the final registration date for 9th grade students by the Rawalpindi Education Board (REB) has jeopardized the academic future of millions of students.
The REB notified all government and registered schools regarding the deadline, creating a crisis of as most teachers, school heads and clerical staff are engaged in election duties.
Schools will remain closed on May 11 and the students have left for their home towns.
Students, parents and teachers have demanded a new date after May 15 of the board, saying they will be compelled to hold protest rallies otherwise.
