The Planning Commission of Pakistan has so far released Rs 170.3 billion of Rs 233 billion allocated to its Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP).
According to the Commission’s latest data, they have released Rs 86.2 billion for 347 infrastructure development projects and Rs 78.2 billion for 715 social sector projects.
The data indicates that Rs 1.9 billion has been discharged for 77 other projects and Rs 4 billion for the Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA). Further, the PSDP’s total funds for 2012-13 are Rs 360 billion, including Rs 100 billion foreign aid managed by the Economic Affairs Division, and funds totalling Rs 27 billion for special programmes, administered by the Cabinet Division or the Finance Division.
The data estimates the total cost of 347 infrastructure projects at Rs 2320.3 billion, of which Rs 211.1 billion has been reserved in the 2012-13 budget and includes Rs 85.6 billion as foreign aid. The total cost of 715 social sector projects is Rs 554.7 billion, of which Rs 135.9 billion has been allocated in the current PSDP, 8.4 percent of which is financial aid.
The estimated cost of 77 other projects is Rs 41.8 billion, of which Rs 3 billion has been earmarked in the PSDP 2012-13 and Rs 10 billion reserved for the ERRA.
The Planning Commission of Pakistan has followed the official procedure for the release of funds, with 20 percent funds released in the first quarter (July-September), 20 percent in the second (October-December), 25 percent in the third (January-March) and 35 percent in the fourth (April-June).
