A full bench of the Lahore High Court on Monday allowed former minister Rana Farooq Saeed to contest elections from NA-79 Faisalabad after setting aside orders of the returning officer and election tribunal which declared him ineligible.
The full bench headed by Justice Ijazul Ahsan passed the order.
Earlier, Khan’s brother through his counsel claimed that he had usurped his property. A voter, Muhammad Iqbal, also alleged that Rana had concealed assets and was also involved in electricity theft.
However, petitioner’s counsel Farooq H Naek contended that all charges were baseless. He pleaded the court to allow the petitioner to contest elections.
The bench after hearing arguments allowed the petitioner to contest elections from NA-79.
