Former provincial minister Sharjeel Memon said on Sunday that the Sharif brothers are getting unnerved as Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) is exposing their black deeds spanning over 26 years.
The minister said that the monster of terrorism took thousands of lives of innocent Pakistanis during their rule, while adding rampant unemployment and the havoc caused by floods was also due to their criminal negligence.
While referring to the conversation between Justice Qayyum and former chief of Ehtisaab Bureau Saifur Rehman, he said that Sharifs’ blatant indulgence in the due process of law was simply inexcusable when they were dictating to the judiciary to award exemplary punishment to PPP leaders in the fabricated case. It may be mentioned here that the Sunday Times, London, published the text of conversations after establishing its authenticity by British forensic experts.
Sharjeel argued that the fact that Sharif brothers had not challenged the publication of the conversation in a world renowned newspaper and did not even challenge it in Pakistani courts which established the authenticity of the conversation.
Furthermore, Sharjeel also endorsed the views of Senator Aitzaz Ehsan when he said before the media after the court hearing that the law moved very swiftly in case of PPP as two of its former PMs were disqualified, whereas in Asghar Khan Case, the apex court had not moved to implement the judgment.
He also said that Federal Investigation Agency had not initiated an enquiry into the matter despite the instructions of the Supreme Court about six months ago.
Moreover, the former provincial minister said that the Sharif brothers had no stomach to withstand the truth and instead made hue and cry to win the sympathies of people and also to mislead them. He added that their black deeds and hypocrisy have been completely exposed and people know it too well.
He observed that their love for the people and democracy withered away the day when they fled the country after signing a secret deal with General Musharraf and left behind the people at the mercy of the General’s dictatorship. His timidity and lack of spirit to face hardships would betray the people again if, God forbid, the country came to the same pass, he added.
On the contrary, late Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and late Benzir Bhutto faced the worst dictatorship of General Zia-ul-Haq with courage and steadfastness but never even dropped a hint of compromising on the cause although one of them was hanged and Benazir had to live in torturous conditions in different jails of the country, he recalled.
He also said that both have become mortal in the history but Zia-ul-Haq had been condemned by the history for all times to come. The people of Pakistan would never hand over their destiny to those who proudly claimed that they would complete Zia’s mission.
