SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) President Vikramjit Singh Sahney on Wednesday urged the leadership of south Asia to form a “South Asian Clearing Union” to augment trade, investment flow for viable financial cooperation besides accelerating the pace of development in the region. According to a message received from Kathmandu, the SCCI chief while chairing joint meetings of the 57th executive committee and 18th general assembly stressed an urgent need for evolving a mechanism to meet the ever increasing needs of doing comfortable business. He said all leading experts from south Asia, senior vice presidents and all vice presidents of SCCI were of the opinion that a viable financial cooperation will not only accelerate the development process of trade but also create cross-border investment opportunities. South Asian Association of Regional Co-operation (SAARC) Secretary General Ahmed Saleem from Maldives, speaking on the occasion assured the private sector of full cooperation on all issues hindering smooth flow of trade in Asia and appreciated the initiatives taken by SCCI. The meeting was also attended by former SCCI presidents Annisul Haq, Tariq Sayyed and Dasho Ugen Tsechup Dorji, Predeep Kumar Shresthu, Vice President SAACI Pakistan chapter Iftikhar Ali Malik, chairman international committee Azrakhsh Hafezi and 40 committee members from Afghanistan, Bhuttan, Nepal, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. On this occasion, Guard Group of Industries Director Shahrukh Malik handed over the office of Young Entrepreneurs Forum (YEF) chairman to Saurabh Jyoti of Nepal.
Other members of the Pakistani delegation included FPCCI President Zubair Ahmad Malik, Haroon Rashid, Shahzada Alam, Fazal Elahi, Hameed Akhtar Chadda, Abdul Jabbar Memon, Zahid Maqbool, Mian Mahmood Ahmad and Muhammad Iqbal Tabish.
