The police on Thursday questioned former military ruler General (r) Pervez Musharraf over the 2006 death of Nawab Akbar Bugti – one of three legal cases that have blighted his return from exile, officials said.

The retired general has been humiliated since returning in March from self-imposed exile to contest elections. He is currently under house arrest in connection with two other legal cases and has been barred from running for parliament.

“A three-member team of Balochistan comprising senior police officials is investigating general Musharraf,” prosecutor Hassan Kakar told reporters.

They would also record his statement in the case, he said.

Baloch nationalist leader Bugti was killed in a cave on August 26, 2006 during a military crackdown ordered by Musharraf.

Bugti was the chief of the Jamhoori Watan Party and an influential tribal chief who controlled the gas-rich district of Dera Bugti.

Two local police officials confirmed on Thursday that Musharraf had been questioned at his Islamabad villa by Balochistan police.

Musharraf is being held under house arrest over the 2007 murder of opposition leader Benazir Bhutto and for sacking judges in 2007 when he imposed emergency rule.

    • Musharaf coverted pakistan from failed state into the state of beggers.. development does not come by using latest methods of begging. It comes though foreign investment, which in turn comes when your country is at peace through negotiations with all stakeholders of your country and not by imposing your decisions on others using forces that are at your disposal.

  3. Pervais Mush is the most cursed person in our history who sold his own people for few dollars, butched his own people and terrorises them with drones over their heads. Inshallah he will not have peace rest of his life.

  4. The people of Pakistan are not very educated in understanding econimic development other developments in Pakistan as a whole etc., that’s why they failed to recognie the work of Musharraf. There is a saying.. You can fool me once but you can’t fool me twice. Nawaz has fooled pak people once, twice, and will now be doing it for the third time. What does that say about the people of pak? There are some educated ppl, which are gonna vote for Imran Khan, but that’s minority.

  5. Pakistani nation does not deserve leaders like Musharraf. They would prefer thugs like zardari, nawaz and altaf.

  6. All of you guys, your comments are shallow and partial. Economic development does not mean to kill people. Any person given the top most position is responsible for every person living in that country, and he, his relatives and friends are not allowed to fatten their bank balances. He is not allowed to favor his likened political party and disfavor the others.

  7. Pervaiz MusharaffAn ordinary general of a poorest and infamous corrupt country in the world worth billions of dollars of assets should be hanged in public with no mercy no matter what he did to build the country, the price he took is unimaginable, every one of them there who are bringing him for justice are all on same boat ,they are all looters ,murderers and condemned humans, they all pray five times and fast and eat halal ,what a shame
