Senior leader of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Farooq Sattar informed the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) that rigging was planned on 35 polling stations on May 11.

In a letter sent to the ECP on Thursday, Sattar stated that rigging was planned in National Assembly constituencies NA-248 and NA-249.

Sattar demanded that the ECP should take notice of the situation.
Moreover, Sattar also urged the ECP to improve law and order situation ahead of the elections.

It is pertinent to mention that NA-249 constituency comprises the Karachi’s old city areas, including Kharadar, Mithadar, Boulton Market, Ranchore Lane, Dharamsiwara, Nanakwara, Napier Quarters, Ramswami and Nabi Bakhsh and Jubilee market area, Pan Mandi, and KMC stadium in Saddar Town.

In 2008 general elections, MQM’s Farooq Sattar won from NA 249 by a huge margin. This time round, Sattar is contesting from same constituency.

Nabil Gabol, who recently joined the MQM, is contesting from NA-246 and NA-248 mostly comprising areas of Lyari. He will face Shahjahan Baloch of PPP and the Pakistan Peoples Party-Shaheed Bhutto (PPP-SB) chairperson Ghinwa Bhutto.

  1. If Free & Fair election have done in Karachi then MQM wouldnot able to get one seat at all. MQM is a militant party and should have been banned and Army should do Operation in Karachi as Karachites are fed up with the whole again again rigging of MQM.
