Abrar-ul-Haq’s most prominent song ‘Nach Punjaban Nach’ is being used by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) as a means to discredit the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf (PTI) candidate from the constituency NA-117 Narowal.
According to a local newspaper, supporters of the PML-N candidate in the area have started a mass campaign using Haq’s song to discredit his image in the predominantly conservative area.
The song ‘Nach Punjaban Nach’ (dance Punjaban dance) has been labeled as being too controversial for a constituency such as Narowal where most singers are already labeled as ‘marasi’ which is a negative term used to describe musicians.
The PML-N supporters are telling the villagers of the area to not vote for someone whose main profession is singing.
