The soldiers who have laid their lives for the motherland were paid tribute across the country on the Martyrs’ Day (Youm-e-Shuhada) on Tuesday.
People paid tribute to armed forces and related agencies for rendering sacrifices in war on terror.
A special event was held at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in line with the Martyrs’ Day. Chief of the Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani chaired the programme while army officials, families of the martyred troops attended the ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, Kayani said the Pakistan army was capable of dealing any internal or external threat and to guard national frontiers. He also paid rich tribute to the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for protecting human lives and national sovereignty.
