2 MQM workers killed

Unknown assailants shot two activists of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) dead and injured another on Tuesday.
According to police, some armed men opened fire on MQM workers near Mehboob Ground in Latifabad area of Hyderabad. As a result of firing, two persons identified as Manzoor Ahmed and Nadeem Ajmairi were killed on the spot while the other sustained wounds. The attackers fled the scene after committing the dual murder.
The bodies and the injured person were shifted to a local hospital for medico legal requirements.
Meanwhile, MQM chief Altaf Hussain condemned the killings of his party workers. He said MQM was being targeted recurrently in incidents of terror and bomb blasts, and the saboteurs did not want his party to take part in the elections.
He also agitated against the killing of MQM candidate Fakhrul Islam last month who was contesting for the Sindh assembly, PS-47 seat.
Altaf demanded of the president, caretaker prime minister, caretaker interior minister and the chief election commissioner to arrest those responsible and initiate emergency measures to curb terrorism.
