Meet Sebastian Smith – the man with “the best job in the world”.
The 22-year-old has landed his “dream” occupation as a water slide tester after winning the final of a nationwide competition run by First Choice holidays at the 5 star IberotelMakadiSaraya Splash Resort in Hurghada. The Leeds University student beat off competition from more than 2,000 applicants to win a six-month contract with First Choice.
Sebastian, from Wedmore in Somerset, will now travel the world trying out the exhilarating chutes at its twenty SplashWorld resorts.
This will include all-expenses paid trips to Faliraki, Turkey and Jamaica.
And not only that – he’ll also be paid £20,000 for the privilege. The job description requires a water slide tester to rate two key factors – “biggest splash” and “adrenalin factor”. Fun junkie Tommy Lynch was in the role for four years and called it “the best job in the world”.
Tommy, 33, added: “It can be tough when it’s chilly and you have to strip off, but otherwise it’s great.
“Getting to check out the flumes is by far the best bit. But there is a serious side and it carries a lot of responsibility.”
