Army deployment begins in Balochistan

Deployment of army troops began in parts of Balochistan ahead of the May 11 general elections on Monday.

A contingent of 400 troops left Quetta to take positions in Mastung, Khad Kocha and Dasht ahead of the upcoming polls.

The troops would remain stationed at sensitive areas till May 15.

Talking to reporters, Balochistan Interior Secretary Akbar Hussain Durrani had said that the army men would be deployed in all 30 districts and 92 tehsils of the province to cope up with any untoward situation.

He said a total of 70,000 security personnel would be deployed, including 6000 from Army, 1,7000 from FC, 20,000 from police, 17,000 from Levies, and 10,000 from Balochistan
