Policemen accused of raping woman escape from police custody

Three policemen who had allegedly raped a woman several days ago escaped from police custody on Saturday while they were being taken to a police station in a police van.

Per reports, Qila Gujjar Singh Police registered a rape case against the accused when Naeema Dilawar filed a writ petition at the Lahore High Court.

Naeema alleged that three policemen stopped her at Lakshmi Chowk for checking and later tortured and raped her.

The policemen were identified as ASI Asif and constables Mansoor and Iftikhar.

She said that the area SHO Imran Sayeed had helped the constables to escape. She demanded the interim government take strong action against the area SHO and the policemen.

On the other hand, SHO Imran Sayeed told Pakistan Today that the woman was lying and was actually a professional prostitute.

“We arrested her from Lakshami Chowk and after initial investigation she confessed to her crime. Moreover, four cases have already been registered against her for immoral activities,” he said.

The SHO denied helping the policemen escape from police custody.

Naeema, when contacted, refused to talk to Pakistan Today and said that she would give a statement only after consulting her lawyer.
