ECP condemns violence, directs caretakers to ensure candidates’ security

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Sunday vehemently condemned the recent killings, firing and bomb blasts in Karachi, Balochistan, Peshawar and Kohat.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and other members expressed their deepest condolences for all bereaved families.
The commission called upon the caretaker governments to take all possible measures to ensure security of all contesting candidates and leaders of all political parties, particularly in Karachi, by making foolproof arrangements.
The ECP asked the caretakers to take earnest measures to prevent such assaults ensuring an amicable and guarded atmosphere for the elections, such that the candidates and parties continue their campaigns without fear.
President Asif Ali Zardari on Sunday also strongly condemned bomb blasts near election offices in Kohat and Peshawar, killing and injuring several people.
Zardari urged the provincial authorities to beef up security for candidates and their election offices. He urged authorities to provide the best possible treatment to the injured.
The president also conveyed his condolences to families of those who lost their lives and prayed to the Almighty to shower his blessings on the departed souls.
