Bid to smuggle heroin foiled, four held

Police nabbed four drug traffickers and recovered a huge quantity of fine quality heroin after conducting a successful raid here at a local hotel near railway station in the silent hours of Sunday morning.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Saqib Aslam Memon, while talking to media persons here at his office on Sunday morning, informed that the raid was conducted after receiving information that four drug traffickers who came here from Mardan late Saturday night, were staying in a local hotel located near railway station.
A police party led by Hyderabad SP cordoned off the area at around 4.30am and apprehended Ali Rehman, Akhtar Gul, Alam Zaib and Jehangir and seized eight kilogrammes of fine heroin from their possession.
During preliminary investigation, the SSP informed that the arrested drug traffickers confessed that they were carrying the drugs to the provincial metropolis from Mardan and made there last stop at the hotel before proceeding to their destination.
Cases under relevant sections of laws have been being registered at Hali Road Police Station against the arrested drug traffickers, the SP informed.
