Three-hour relief in load shedding from Monday: PM’s adviser

Finance Adviser to Prime Minister Dr Shahid Amjad on Saturday claimed a three-hour relief in electricity load shedding would be provided to consumers starting from Monday (tomorrow).
Addressing a joint press conference with Federal Minister for Water and Power Dr Musadaq Malik and Federal Minister for Petroleum Sohail Wajahat, he said the caretaker government has already released Rs 20 billion to support the power sector, adding that Rs 10 billion would be released by the end of April. He said Rs 35 billion would be released in May to improve the power generation situation.
Dr Shahid said release of funds would definitely result in increase of power generation which would ultimately lessen load shedding, simultaneously benefiting industries.
Speaking on the occasion, the petroleum minister said within two days power stations would be provided additional 150 million cubic feet of gas.
Water and Power Minister Dr Musadaq claimed 1,900 MW would be added to the national grid within two days.
He also apologised to the nation for prolonged and unscheduled load shedding and assured that all efforts would be made to improve the situation.
