The tiger can never be hunted: Nawaz

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif said on Saturday that the tiger can never be hunted and May 11 would be victory day for his party.

Addressing a public gathering in Jaranwala, Nawaz said the day was not far when Pakistan would become a peaceful and stable country.

He said that he had also played cricket but politics was his passion.

“I made the country a nuclear power by rejecting US president’s offer of $5 billion in return for not carrying out nuclear tests. While India had carried out five nuclear tests, our government carried out six tests in retaliation,” he said.

Sharif promised a strong Pakistan after coming into power and said that his party would eliminate poverty, joblessness, terrorism, load shedding and other problems.

He said the PML-N government would upgrade Jaranwala to a district would connect it with the motorway.

The PML-N president said that the federal government had made the country a barren land where there is no bread to eat and no water to drink. People are dying of hunger and starvation while the rulers are amassing wealth for their vested interests.

He said that he would construct a special motorway for the people of Jaranawala which was a hub of PML-N workers.

He said Shahbaz Sharif had completed great projects for the masses without any discrimination.

He said it was regrettable that factories had to be closed down due to the energy crisis and millions of workers have been rendered joblessness.

“There is an unending chain of protests and demonstrations in the country. The question is that who is responsible for this chaotic situation,” Nawaz said.

Nawaz said there was never an hour of load shedding during his tenure as prime minister.

“We always spoke the truth with the nation. When the people of south Punjab were drowning, we supported them without any discrimination. It was Shahbaz Sharif who set up a base camp there in the flood-hit areas and focused his complete attention for regeneration and restoration of flood-hit people,” he said.

He said that the nation could make an assessment by looking at the advertisements on TV screens that which party contributed for the nation and which political group neglected and rejected the masses. He said that he had not come to Jaranwala for votes.

“My mission is to make the people differentiate among their well wishers and bad-wishers,” he said.

Nawaz Sharif said that the dictator who had toppled his government was actually an enemy of the nation. “I was put behind bars without any justification and the direction of the country was changed in a wrong way, leaving the people at the mercy of Musharraf,” he said.

He said that some politicians were shouting slogans of change but had no vision.

“They are trapping the youth just for their personal aims,” he said.

He concluded that the PML-N had a team of experts who had the ability to cope with challenging crises which could resolve the issues being faced by the nation on a priority basis.

“If the PML-N is given an opportunity to come to power, it would lay foundation of agricultural and industrial units, will multiply the ratio of exports and will create millions of jobs for workers and labourers”, said Nawaz.

He said that the educated people would be given micro loans so that the unemployed youth may be able to earn their living via respectable means. He said Pakistan had been overwhelmed by stumbling blocks and tremendous problems but by the grace of Allah we would overcome these issues with the cooperation of sincere voters and supporters.

Nawaz assured that all rural areas would be developed with welfare projects and the farmers would be provided with cheap fertilisers and seeds.

Separately, former Punjab chief minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Shahbaz Sharif said that if PML-N returned to power‚ he would provide jobs to the unemployed and would give relief to the farmers as per its manifesto.

Addressing a public meeting in Nankana Sahib‚ he said we had carried out huge development works in Punjab during the last 5 years.

Shahbaz said that due to the shortage of electricity, the agriculture sector had been affected and industries were being shut down.

“We would steer the country out of darkness,” he said.
