Senators belonging to major political parties, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Awami National Party (ANP), expressed anguish stating that former military ruler Pervez Musharraf was being given preferential treatment despite his chequered past due to which he is facing several criminal cases in courts.
Addressing a joint press conference on Saturday Senators Ishaq Dar and Senator Mushahidullah Khan of PML-N, Senator Raza Rabbani of PPP and Senator Zahid Khan of ANP said they sternly opposed the leniency given to Musharraf by the interim government and objected the discriminatory approach of the present government since Musharraf has been staying at his own house despite being imprisoned.
Senate had passed a resolution seeking Musharraf’s trial under Article 6 for abrogation of the constitution. However, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) senators neither supported nor opposed the resolution.

  1. It is a big lesson for the Pakistan political parties for leg-pulling each other ,ratherthan to make provision in the National Constritutional for making laws that Army will not interfere in the political matters of the country,so that there would not be any fears for imposing of martial law .Let the army do their honorable duties to defend the country only and keep them away from POLITICS.

    • You mean leave the country to be ravaged repeatedly by these goons you call politicians. Please be honest. Lets first purge our political system of looters, embezellers, feudal dacoits and pseudo monarchies. Thereafter by all means, advocate placing restriction on the forces.
