Police officials deployed at pickets in the federal capital for security cause inconvenience to the general public, say motorcycle riders, complaining that motorists were allowed to pass a picket unchecked.

Cemented barricades have been placed on major roads including Jinnah Avenue, Faisal Avenue, Islamabad Expressway, and Kashmir Highway. The police stop vehicles and motorcycles for checking up but they misuse their authority and trouble people, especially motorcycle riders.

Talking to INP, motorcycle riders said they were soft target because they were “common people” without political connections. They said police officers asked them long questions, including job description. “A person in a car passes through the pickets uninterrupted, while a motorcycle rider has to give an interview at every picket,” they said. They demanded that the general inspector of police take notice of this situation.
