A petition has been filed in Islamabad High Court (IHC) that seeks to cancel appointment of Zamurrad Khan, former Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (PBM) chairman, as lifetime patron-in-chief of the Pakistan Sweet Homes (PSH).
Rana Shakeel and Mian Faisal, who are district officers in the PBM, have made the federation, the PBM deputy manager, and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) director general party along with Khan in the petition.
The petitioners have claimed that Khan’s appointment as the PSH patron-in-chief was illegal because it was made by the then Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf on March 14, which was his last day in office. They have claimed that the appointment has been made “in absence of statutory source of binding”.
Khan is also accused of appointing his brother-in-law and the elder brother in the PBM on grade-17 and grade-19 respectively.
It is relevant here that Khan had resigned from his post of the PBM chairmanship to contest elections from NA-54, Rawalpindi, on the Pakistan People’s Party ticket. However, Ashraf had still appointed him as the lifetime patron-in-chief of the PSH.
