A gas pipeline explosion on Saturday near Kashmore has left Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations across Punjab closed, local media reported.

Unknown assailants blew up the 30-inch gas pipeline which resulted in the suspension of gas supply to several cities of Punjab including, Lahore, Gujranwala, Multan, Shaikhupura and Gujrat.

The provision of gas was suspended after Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) turned off the supply to CNG stations and industries.

An SNGPL spokesman said the company suspended supply to CNG stations and industries so gas needed for domestic consumption could be supplied without interruption.

Last week, four incidents of gas pipeline explosions were reported from areas surrounding Kashmore.

  1. Are gas supplies still disrupted to CNG stations and industries in Punjab province? Any estimate as to when they will be restored if yes?
