The Ministry of Water and Power has given extension of five months to Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) Chief Executive Officer Javed Pervez in total disregard to the opposition of the IESCO board members.
Well placed sourced in the ministry told Online of Friday that Javed was to retire on April 22 but had been awarded extension of five months by Water and Power Minister Dr Musaddiq Malik. Sources also said that Javed enjoyed cordial relations with the federal minister and his extension was result of a deal between the federal minister and Javed.
Sources said the IESCO board of directors strongly opposed Javed’s extension as the chief executive officer, adding that names of General Manager Development Malik Muhammad Yousaf and General Manager Transmission Muhammad Rafique had been forwarded for the appointment.
Sources also claimed that Javed had good relations with former prime minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf and had spent huge funds in Gujar Khan which is Raja’s home constituency. They also said the appointment was also a complete disregard of the Supreme Court’s directions.
