A scandal of selling refrigerators provided by the provincial government to store anti-polio vaccines was unveiled on Thursday when the authorities seized several refrigerators in a raid.
According to Sheikhupura Health EDO Rafeeq Ahmed, health authorities along with a team of police conducted a raid on a shop in Rachna Town and seized four refrigerators and several vaccine boxes owned by the Punjab Health Department.
The police arrested the refrigerator repair shop’s owner Muhammad Hussain who during the preliminary interrogation has claimed that refrigerators were handed over to him for repair.
However, the recovered refrigerators were packed and not used as yet and on the other hand Health Department technical staff itself repairs the faulty appliance.
The vaccinator identified as Jehanzeb who sold the refrigerators and vaccines is still at large.
