EPD cracks down on paint, ceramics companies

The City District Government Lahore (CDGL) Environment Protection Department (EPD) issued directions to a paint manufacturing unit to improve working in favour of the locals. According to EPD officials, a paint manufacturing unit in Kotlakhpat’s residential area was operating without an environment management system, causing noise pollution in the area. The residents had complained to the department to take notice of the situation. The authorities issued directions to the owner under Section 146-2 of the Punjab Local Government Ordinance-2001.

Separately, EPD also issued notices to two ceramics shops working without NoC and not abiding by EPD rules. Official sources said that in Ichra, Yousuf Ceramics and Raheem Ceramics were ignoring environmental regulations. Sources said ceramics pottery was kept in open providing potential breeding point to dengue mosquitoes. Official team of environment department issued notices to owners of the shops.
