The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Friday barred all politicians from indulging in personal attacks against one another.
According to details, making personal remarks against any political personality was declared a violation of the electoral code and conduct and action would be taken against violators.
Presidential spokesperson Farhatullah Babar had earlier written to the ECP requesting it to desist political parties, particularly the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), from launching “political attacks” against the person of President Asif Ali Zardari.
The election commission’s move follows back-to-back mudslinging statements issued by politicians from different parties against each other recently.
