Terrorists trying to derail polls: Habib

Caretaker Interior Minister Malik Habib on Thursday said some external and internal elements wanted to derail electoral process in Pakistan.
He said the caretaker government had formulated an effective strategy to maintain peace and tranquility in the county during polls.
Talking to a private TV channel, Habib said that law enforcers had identified the elements which wanted to spread unrest in Karachi during electoral process.
He claimed that morale of law-enforcement agencies was high to tackle terrorists in the country. The caretaker government was coordinating with law enforcers to formulate strategy against terrorists.
To a question, he claimed that the caretaker government would establish a peaceful environment during polls. The caretaker government was using all resources to maintain peace across the country, he added.
He said that symbolic presence during polls was necessary across the country during polls, adding that Rangers personnel would be deployed inside the sensitive polling stations.
He claimed that the caretaker government would set all to ensure free, fair and transparent elections in the country. He said that maximum security would be assured to the polling staff during polls to avoid the incidents of harassment.
To another question, he said that the caretaker government would remove the reservations of all political stakeholders of Balochistan and Karachi regarding security issues.
