The Supreme Court on Thursday exempted former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gillani from appearance in the court and directed him to appear through his counsel in Hajj corruption case.
A three-member bench, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Chaudhry, when resumed the hearing Gillani appeared before the court seeking immunity from appearance.
During the course of proceeding, the CJP said, “The court did not direct you to appear before the court, there are some legal issues to be discussed so appoint a lawyer so that he could plead your case.”
