Pakistan Ulema Council declares voting ‘Islamic responsibility’

Religious scholars from the Pakistan Ulema Council have issued a fatwa that declares not casting vote a sin, adding that voting was an Islamic responsibility.

The fatwa further states that women have equal rights to vote, adding that it was not religion that barred them from voting but the feudal system.

Pakistan Ulema Council Chairman Tahir Ashrafi said misusing the name of Islam should be stopped immediately.
