The Supreme Court on Wednesday allowed more time to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to further carry out investigation into the Rental Power Plants (RPPs) case.
The court gave four weeks to NAB to complete investigations into the case on the request of NAB Prosecutor General KK Agha, who had asked for six-week time for the completion of the investigation.
A three-judge bench, headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and comprising Justice Gulzar Ahmad and Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed, resumed hearing the case.
During the course of the proceeding, Agha submitted 12 individual progress reports of the investigation by NAB and requested the bench to keep the reports confidential which the court accepted.
He further apprised the court that NAB had completed investigations into almost all of the cases save one or two.
Agha committed that NAB would frame charges against all the accused and would present them before the SC soon.
Admiring the NAB prosecutor general’s performance, the CJP said the court would certainly accommodate him.
He said the court was not going to dispose of this case as so many important matters had been mentioned in the judgement.
Later, the bench adjourned the matter until May 27, allowing NAB four weeks to complete its investigation into the case and directed Agha that summary of progress in each case be submitted with the court.
