PM halts police recruitment over lack of funds

Caretaker Prime Minister (PM) Mir Hazar Khan Khoso has directed the Interior Ministry to stop the recruitment of 2,700 new police officers in the Islamabad Police due to lack of funds.

Reliable sources said that the PM decided to let the new government recruit police officers. Earlier, caretaker Interior Minister Malik Muhammad Habib Khan had announced to induct 2,700 police personnel in Islamabad Police while the interior secretary had also directed the quarters concerned to advertise for vacant posts.

Meanwhile, summary regarding the funds was sent to the Finance Ministry which informed the PM that no funds were available. Keeping in view the unavailability of funds, Khoso ordered the Interior Ministry to stop induction of new officers in the Islamabad Police.

Earlier, the interior minister had announced for recruitment of police personnel to step up security in the capital ahead of the upcoming general elections.
