People will continue trusting PPP: Khursheed Shah

A leader of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and candidate for NA-198 Khursheed Shah on Wednesday said that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has never lost electoral contest in the past and hoped the people will trust the party in the upcoming elections.
Addressing different corner meetings in his constituency, he said that former PPP-led government had resolved public problems to the best of their abilities and had also provided better living conditions for the masses, despite baseless propaganda being consistently launched by the party’s opponents.
Khursheed Shah hoped that the PPP would win elections on the basis of its performance, while adding that the party’s vote bank was spread in all provinces.
He claimed that his party would win major seats in the upcoming general elections as its national network was spread far and wide.
Historically speaking, he also claimed that that each time anti-democratic forces tried to defame the PPP ahead of elections, such tactics had always added to the popularity of the party, adding that its mandate could not be snatched through mere propaganda.
Replying to a query, he said real power was exercised by the people in any democratic system.
Replying to another question, he said late Zulfikar Bhutto was sentenced to death just because he restored self-respect to the masses, gave them identity, right of vote and courage in order to empower them at the most basic level.
Shah said the restoration of 1973 Constitution to its original form was the biggest achievement of the PPP.
