Amid claims of another exile being offered to former dictator General (r) Pervez Musharraf in the garb of seeing his ailing 95-year-old mother, the former president has reportedly rejected any offer of safe passage, saying he would not leave Pakistan until and unless declared innocent in all cases framed against him.

“Some international leaders have conveyed to Musharraf to make up his mind for another exile keeping in view the hostile media and judiciary in Pakistan. They also asked him to file a plea in the court seeking bail on pretext to see his ailing mother. But Musharraf politely refused to accept the offer and told all his well-wishers that he would not leave Pakistan until he was freed by the courts in all cases against him,” a source who met Musharraf at his farmhouse told Pakistan Today.

“General Musharraf told the interlocutors that it was none other than his ailing mother who had directed him to go to Pakistan and face courts and get himself cleared from all charges. He said his mother had told him that Pakistan was his country and he should live and die there,” the source added.

The source said Musharraf told visitors that he had made up his mind to return to his homeland after through thinking and he would bravely face the courts irrespective of the behaviour he was facing.

“He strongly believes that the courts would give him justice but we know that this is not going to happen,” the source added.

APML Secretary Information Aasia Ishaq confirmed Musharraf had rejected an offer made to him for visiting her ailing mother.

“Musharraf is not a coward and he will face the legal process. He will not leave the country come what may. He believes that he would get justice and the courts would decide his cases on merit,” she added.

  1. If someone has committed a crime then they must be punished according to the law, we cannot have different laws for different people, no matter who they are. I think in this situation, it would have been better to let him take part in the elections and the new government formed by PTI to try all who have done wrong. In addition, we can not be taken hostage by the thought that the army will react, army is meant to server it's people, if they break the law then they must be punished just like anyone else. Inshallah in new Pakistan, no one will be above the law

    • This nation cant live in Past, we have to move on. If Imran khan got elected my opinion to him will be to focus on future rather than past. Whatever is done is done. It will be waste of his energies in fruitless things.

  4. What happened to the family gate, pushed under the carpet as it was corruption done by ifti's son. There is just so much Army would take and will react if it goes beyond the point of no return. This judiciary is not judiciary it has become a political party and iftikhar wants a major role via N league

  5. No sympthay for Pervaiz Musharraf who is is beneifector of MQM ,which only flourished during his rule with full suppurt from him, other wise in COD accord in London between, Benaizir Bhuto,Nawaz sharif,JUI F, APN, Imran Khan there was a common cenusus not to include MQM being a terrorist party which whole of Pakistan saw & is witness.

  6. Musharraf may have made mistakes but he has certainly not committed any crime. It takes a brave man to come forward to face the allegations and clear his name in the presence of a hostile political and judicial environment. He is the only statesman Pakistan has and who time and again has defended Pakistan's position internationally.

As for the judiciary it seems that they being the affected party by Musharraf's past actions are effectively the complainants and they are going to adjudicators Talk about a free and fair trial.

  7. Musharraf is without doubt a man of Great Courage and a PATRIOT he is not like all other so called national leaders who have been cheating this country and shamelessly claiming to be working for the poor

We pray from Allah that he help us and People Like Musharraf hold the Country again. We don't expect any hope from our Chief Justice "Iftekhar M. Choudhry" & Our Chief of Army Staff "Mr. Pervez kiani" as they only serve their family not for the Nation or Country. God Bless Pakistan, God Bless our Nation. And Allah Pak Tabah o Barbad karday un logon ko jo Pakistan me apnay mazay ke lie Pakistan aur us ki Nation ka soda kartay hain. Ameen.
