Prime Minister Mir Hazar Khan Khoso has said that the care taker government was focusing on holding free, fair, transparent and credible elections in the country and would extend all possible assistance to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in the conduct of elections.
The premier reiterated that power would be transferred to the elected representatives after the elections process was completed.
He was talking to British High Commissioner Adam Thomson who called on him at the Prime Minister House on Wednesday and discussed issues of mutual interest.
While talking to the British high commissioner, the prime minister said Pakistan and Britain had historical and traditionally close cooperative relationship in diverse fields. He appreciated the assistance being extended by the British government to Pakistan in the field of education.
Thomson assured the prime minister of continued cooperation in the field of education and said, “We are very passionate about stepping up efforts to expand education in Pakistan and are exploring ways how to go about it.”
Khoso said over one million Pakistanis were living in the United Kingdom, which was a cementing force and a strong impetus to the continued relations between the two countries.
Thomson said the Pakistani community in the UK out numbered all other communities when compared in proportion to the population of these countries.
The high commissioner congratulated the prime minister on assuming the charge of caretaker prime minister and commended the role played by his government for the conduct of the forthcoming general elections in Pakistan.
